Continuing my Training
morgothan | 6 03 2007A few things have happened in class over the last week. Two other students have tested out into the advanced class. So Classes should be a little more interesting. Also due to Saturdays weather being so nice I went outside and learned a little more of the spear form. I really like spear. It has a lot of “real world” applications in it. I can see using any non uniformly weighted stick as a spear. A broom for example. I saw the whole form, and there is some really fancy moves in it. Throwing the spear, rolling it over the body. Look like it is going to be a lot of fun.
On Monday, I had a very long and bad day at work. So I went into Kung Fu a little early. I knew Sifu would not be there, so I knew it would be just me there. I let myself in, and started warming up. I put on two sets of my brass rings, and proceeded to do every form we do, as hard as I could. I just needed to work out some frustration. After doing so, I decided the Tan Toi(Springing Leg) is by far physically the hardest form we do. I did all the forms facing the correct direction. Once I finished them all, I did them again. Only this time facing the other direction. Forced me to think about each of the moves a bit more. Made it a little more difficult, mentally. I did this for about 2 hours. By this point people had started showing up. So I did Hua Chuan 4 two man with Rob. Twice each side. Then ran through all the Chin Na’s that we know with Bill. This took us to the beginners class. Where I put the rings back on(I take them off if I do two man things), and we drilled stances, and Lein Bu. We ended the beginner class by holding bricks, and working on breathing.
Today my arms and shoulders are remarkable not as sore as I thought they would be. Next time I will have to work harder.
