Hua Chuan 2, and Spear A winning combination
morgothan | 10 04 2007So in the time since my last post I have been learning quite a lot. I finished learning Hua Chuan 2. Which is making Hua chuan 4 a little harder, as it is very easy to mix the two up. I still feel a little shaky on the ending. I know it. Its just for what ever reason I can never recall to do the windmill the arms back, change hands, thrust down to a low tiger move at the end of the last line. Maybe now that I have written it down, I will remember it. Also since the weather has been getting nice, I have continued to learn spear. Which is a really elegant and nice form. It is very long though. I am only about a third of the way finished with it, and it is already the longest weapon form I know. On the bright side though, I just purchased a spear, so I will now be able to practice at home.
An interesting thing happened on monday in the beginner class. Sifu corrected both myself and Rob on how to do inside crescent kicks. We always did them in such a fashion that we struck with the inside of the leg and foot. Sifu said that it should be with the bottom of the foot. That you want to hook the foot on its side. This is really uncomfortable to do at first, but I can see its benefits. Something to work on I suppose.
