Hsing Yi and Pa Kua to go on Hiatus

morgothan | 22 01 2008

I made a life changing decision a little while a go. I decided that I should go back to school and finish getting my Masters Degree in Computer Networking and Security. I registered for classes, and am currently scheduled for one class this semester. I plan on taking only one class a semester, and one in the summer. So that school doesn’t interfere too much with my personal and professional life. The problem that arose this semester is that the class I am registered for is on Wednesday night from 6-9. This is a problem as Hsing Yi is from 6:30-7:30, and Pa Kua is from 7:30-8:30. This problem is made more so by the fact that Hsing Yi and Pa Kua classes only happen once a week. So for the next four months I will not be learning Hsing Yi and Pa Kua. I am however planning on taking what ever private time I have in the school, when no one else shows up for the advanced class, and working on Pa Kua. I think I have Hsing Yi down well enough that it will not be too detrimental to take the four months off from it. I will obviously spend some time working on it, so it does not get too rusty, but for the most part my “private” classes will focus on Pa Kua.

I feel like a loser

morgothan | 24 05 2007

So I work out at the kwoon for about 15 hours a week. I also work out at home for about 3-5 hours a week. Granted I do not do weight training, but I still work out a lot. I am not used to feeling sore the next day after doing a laborious task. So imagine my surprise when the other day my arm was sore. My though process as to why my arm was sore went as follows. What did I do today to make my arm so sore. I worked on spear, and Hua Chuan 2 at the kwoon. Neither intensively enough to make my arm hurt. I ate lunch. Went shopping. Carried a bag of stuff. But that wasnt that heavy. I started helping my mother set up the house for her friends surprise 40th birthday party. And played some video games. I didnt do anything to make my arm sore. Then it hit me. I bought a nintendo wii. And I was playing wii sports boxing, tennis, bowling, etc. So my arm hurts because I was playing video games. I am still so flabbergasted by this. I understand that I’m working a muscle group in a way that I am not used to, but still its video game. Maybe I should start considering the time spent playing games on it, an addition to my training time. Sifu would buy off on that right? Right?
