He bit me

morgothan | 6 06 2008

So we had another prodigal son returning to the school. One who is currently in college, and can only make it down during his off time. We sparred last night, or free flowed, as we didnt have the pads on. He got a little over zealous with a take down, so I dropped with him to the ground, and worked on some of my ground work from Judo, as with the passing of Sensei Rosenthal I have not been practicing Judo at all. While on the ground I found out that although I remembered a lot, I am also out of practice with it, and need to work on it. The trick will be finding a place to do it though. Anyway, I have Shane huddled down with back exposed, so I try and put him in Hadaka Jimmy(sp?), A rear naked strangle. He keeps his head down like a good boy, so I can’t get it on him at all. Eventually he I manage to get him to move in such a fashion I get him streaked out and have the choke on pretty good, but he managed to BITE my arm pretty hard, to get me to loosen up, then tries to choke me, poorly, I role him, and that was when the fight was called by Sifu. I still have teeth marks on my arm. Next time he tries something like that to me. Im not going to be nice. Im going to fish hook him, and then knock his ass out. Prodigal son or not.

A prodigal son returns and a new take on 20 methods

morgothan | 3 06 2008

A student who was taking classes at the school before I started has come back to the school. He had moved to Orlando, and has now moved back into the area. I’m really glad he came back to the school. He seems like a really cool guy. We did Lien Bu, and 20 Methods single man. For being gone for so long his stance work was great, and he had the forms pretty good. Some rust, but not much. A Somewhat Successful Return

morgothan | 29 05 2008

Hsing Yi last night was a refresher on two man material. Which is nice since I have not done any of the Hsing Yi two man work since I left. First was five elements two man. I ran through that as if I had been doing it everyday since I left. I was actually impressed by how much muscle memory I had. We then went to An Shen Pao(12 animal 2 man). This one required a little more work. I was unable to jump right into it, but after one or two false starts I was able to run through the whole thing. Hopefully next week we will do some of the single man forms and see if I can’t get through them.

Im Going Back!

morgothan | 28 05 2008

After a long pause in my Hsing Yi and Pa Kua training I am heading back. Tonight will be the first night I will be back at Hsing Yi and Pa Kua since I started on my masters. I get the entire summer to continue to work on them. Then it is back to school on Wednesday for me. So I really need to kick it into gear when I am there, and try and really grok everything. I wonder who is still there taking classes. I am a little nervous about it, as I have not been practicing them on my own as much as I should have. We will see what is still in there, and what I need to relearn. I am sure the 12 animals will need some work, and the palm changes at least. I think all of the Hsing Yi forms though, I should be able to run through them. Only time will tell. I’ll try and update tomorrow and let everyone know how it went.

The Semester is Coming to an End

morgothan | 7 05 2008

The semester is coming to an end. Next week is my last day of classes before my summer break. I am looking forward to going back to Hsing Yi and Pa Kua. This summer should be a good one for me, as I am also planning on driving out to Trenton once a week to take a Krav Maga Class with my friend Tim. I have always been interested in Krav Maga, as it is entirely focused on survival, and real fighting. I think it will be a good thing to put into my arsenal. We will see how that goes.
